Molteni Therapeutics is a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of novel antibacterial and  anti-fungal therapeutics.

 

The core competence of Molteni Therapeutics is the discovery and development of novel small molecule drugs that utilize Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT) technology, that specifically target bacterial, fungal, and drug-resistant infections.

 

Molteni Therapeutics was constituted in 2006 as the result of the spinning off of the anti-microbial research business of Molteni Farmaceutici, a privately-owned pharmaceutical company based in Florence, founded in 1892, who carried out these specific research programs since 1990.

 

Molteni Therapeutics has a set of new patented chemical entities in pre-clinical development, that show increased potency, broader spectrum of action and/or efficacy, against bacterial, fungal and drug-resistance infections. Its innovative lead therapeutic, RLP 068, developed for the treatment of the most common and deadliest resistant bacterial infections, will progress into Phase I in 2007.
